Kurt V. died at exactly 84 years and 6 mos. after his birth! April 11, 2007.
The 24 of us feel strongly about his being, his writing, his effect on readers. He was the right man at the right time. Just like Bach, etc. Now what? searching the Web, you see many references to him. But what do you see in the realm of FOLLOWING UP on him? Aside from the wonderful archive in Indianapolis, You see only our MeetUp GROUP!! THAT'S ALL.....THAT'S US!! How can we share with each other between MeetUp events? I would enjoy hearing anything you are thinking about him... what you are reading... questions, doubts, confirmations, etc. I am reading HOCUS POCUS, and thinking of going around again on A MAN WITHOUT A COUNTRY. It helped me to read a paper by MARET VIT (go online to read or printout), but basically, I would rather formulate questions among the group itself, rather than read research (this paper WAS really good, though). As a Message Board subject, what would think of Vonnegut's take on FREE WILL? Any of his many characters have it? etc. etc. TIME QUAKE was a treasure trove on that subject, but all of his books involve this question.... Do we have choices??? Can we make decisions??? Are we sort of boxed in, unlucky, late, etc.? Out MeetUps are NOT group therapy!! And this is where the humor and group fun come into play. Marty 4/1/08 (I am not fooling) |
